For more than 60 years, God has graciously allowed WCA to provide Christian education to families in Wilson, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. Founded in 1961 under the leadership of Dr. Otis Holmes and Tabernacle Baptist Church, WCA began with one five-year-old kindergarten class on Tarboro Street. The school later moved to its current campus, and the first senior class graduated in 1972.
Today, Wilson Christian Academy serves students from preschool through twelfth grade while continuing the same purpose of assisting Christian parents in training their children according to God’s Word. WCA exists to partner with families by providing a quality academic education rooted in biblical truth. We desire to help students grow spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and morally in a school environment that honors Christ.
The purpose of WCA is to assist the Christian home and the Bible-teaching local church by providing an
education that is Christian in philosophy, excellent in academics, and intentional in spiritual formation.
WCA’s mission may be summarized in the following three-fold statement:
Exalting Christ
Colossians 1:18; Philippians 2:9–11
Educating Generations
Deuteronomy 6:6–7; Psalm 78:4–7
Evangelizing Globally
Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 1:8
This mission emphasis reflects our desire to honor Christ in all that we do, faithfully educate the next generation through a biblical worldview, and prepare students to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to others at home and around the world.
